3/4 Mark

The kids (cats) are officially 9 months old today; that's 3/4 of a year!  They're growing fast and playing hard.

Although I don't have official weights, both are officially past the 9 lb. mark (I had to get new flea meds).

Domi is still a snuggler. He loves belly rubs and doesn't mind if I play with his tail (which is good, because it's so soft and fluffy). I really think he has some Ragamuffin in him.  He's more inclined to sit and watch Midi get in trouble, but when he gets involved a a game of chase or attack, he goes full tilt. They don't wrestle as much as they used to, but it still happens. His favorite toy right now (not counting whatever Midi has) is a stuffed baguette he got for Christmas.  He prefers crunchy food and often won't touch the canned stuff.  He chirps instead of meowing, but is capable of making himself heard if necessary.  No more basement trips (thanks to the extra tall gate mom gave me); his favorite spot is the window.

Midi is my trouble maker. She still tries to climb the curtains, and has snuck out the front door a couple of times. (Fortunately she came running when I called.). She tolerates pets and snuggles, but she's the one who likes to curl up in my lap in the recliner or against me in bed.  She loves to chase things, and her favorite toys are springs (and pipe cleaners).  She's much more active than Domi.  She prefers canned food but loves treats, too.  Her favorite spot is the top of the big cat tower they got for Christmas.

They're no longer bottomless pits; around Christmas they started consistently not eating as much, so they're fairly stable on 1.5 cans of Fancy Feast and 1/4 cup of dry. (They were up to 2 cans for a while, but I backed off when they didn't eat it.). Their favorite treat is freeze dried chicken, but they've eaten everything we've tried.

Oddly, although they liked the puzzle box with toys, they didn't like the balls that dropped treats.  I had a really cool mouse that hangs from the doorway ordered, but the package is lost in transit.

Until next time, keep purring! I'm off to snuggle with some furballs.  :)

DNA Tests

Back in 2024, I had the opportunity to get a free DNA test for Domi from Basepaws.  Technically, he's part of the "healthy cat coh...
